Did everyone have a chance to watch the Session One video this week?

  1. Esther and Beth are calling me, but as you know we are living in chaos right now. I hope to get on it tomorrow after littles and Nana are put to bed!

  2. “It’s tough to live in another womans’ shadow”. I have thought on that, and how I mostly live is shadows that I have created.
I’m going through the book instead of the video’s and will have more time this afternoon to come back and share some more...
    so till later

  4. May not be from Ruth, but it is hard being a woman and “feeling” loved. Especially, when, like in Ruth, there are experiences (beauty treatments) that decide your value....

  5. One of the comments that Beth made was that in ancient Persia beauty wasnt something you were it was something you did and that you could never be beautiful enough. It is still that way in this day and age. Even the most beautiful of beautiful have their pictures touched up on the cover of magazines because they apparently weren't beautiful enough. Its crazy, sad and tiresome at the same time. But...she had an escape from all that craziness. Psalm 90:17 Let the beauty of the Lord my God be upon me. And then she went onto say "That is the beauty that can be sustained and ageless."
Then I really started to think about the whole subject of our history being tied to our destiny. Even though I agreed with that, I wondered then if that is true could I have had an option like in door #1 or door #2 as far as destinys go. Completely dependent on my choices through out life. Because I know there are things in my past that God did not approve of so had I not chosen to do those things couldnt that have changed my destiny? Either way I am where I am, and I am so thankful that I have Jesus here with me to walk me into my destiny because the thought of doing it without Him is not an option anymore.

  6. I've totally been thrown off my groover this week. My dh is home this week and as much as it is so good to have him here, I just haven't had a chance to watch the video. My book should finally be here soon though. Promise I'll catch up - the above comments are making me drool for the study! :)

  7. I was going to make one more comment. Beth said that "God is attracted to weakness because then you have more room for the strength of God." That is so true. It seems that that is the way that He holds our attention(sad, but true sometimes)when we are at our lowest point. That is when we are on our knees and much more willing to listen to Him and do whatever it is He would have us to do.
Can you imagine someone in our society telling us to be weak? NEVER! I told my girlfriend after reading this the other day that I dont ever want to be strong again if its going to keep me from what the Lord wants for me, or keeps me from growing closer to Him.

  8. I have also been thinking about Beth's comment "In God, your past and your future share the same root..." (Or at least that's what I think she said according to my notes :) ). It made me think about how Esther's pain (being orphaned) and her blessing (being "lovely") were both used by God as a part of His Master plan for her future, the future of her people and ultimately (as always) for His glory. They seem somewhat isolated at the beginning of the story but as Beth later says "all the little pieces fit together." It made me start reflecting on my own past of pain and blessing and praying about how He may seek to use it for my good, the good of His people that surround me, and most importantly for His glory.
